The answer is yes. And if it's not right now, it will be eventually — this stuff isn’t going anywhere. Take all the time you need.
This page is a living list of tools, links, and knowledge that help me build strange things from orbit. Most of it’s free, some of it is weird, and a few things will melt your computer if you dare to even run them.
Why Free?
Because free software isn't always user-friendly — but it's not $$$, either. I'll try to help smooth out the rough parts and give you notes, snippets, and reading scans when possible.
Whatever I learn, you learn too.

Software (WIP)
Python
A high-level programming language that's perfect for automation, scripting, data analysis, RF calculations, and just about everything else.
Use it with your favorite IDE, use it with Notepad, teach it to your baby, Python is amazing. The first question I think of when I see some cool software is, "I wonder if someone made that in Python." If you've seen something free/open-source in academia, it's probably got a Python backend. Hell, some of the software here is just fancy Python wrappers, and they're all AMAZING! We <3 python in this house.
